Donald Trump will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. After this, the American Embassy will be shifted from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump’s move is being opposed internationally as well as in the United States.
Explain that on one side, while the Israelis refer to Jerusalem as their capital, on the other side Palestinians consider Jerusalem as the capital of their nation. Israel declared independence in 1948 and Jerusalem was divided a year later. Later in 1967 Israel captured East Jerusalem after a 6-day war.
Now The Palestinians resent the plan to shift to the Embassy located in Tel Aviv. They consider East Jerusalem as its capital. Turkish President Erdogan has also said that if America does this, regional peace will be in danger. The President of France expressed concern over Donald Trump when Jerusalem was recognized as Israel’s capital.
